Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deut 31:6)
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
Anyone who loves a game of tennis loves a ball that bounces well. Once a tennis ball stops bouncing when it is in use, especially in a tournament, the player gets rid of it and gets another tennis ball that can bounce well. Some of us can be likened to the bouncing ball in different contexts. When we are full of life and excitement, we feel good about ourselves and even people feel drawn to us and want to be associated with us. However, we may come to a point in our lives when the storms of life hit us and we feel flat and like the tennis ball, we can no longer bounce. At that point, we may feel like the tennis ball that can no longer bounce and has to be thrown away .We may even feel rejected, forsaken and all alone. However, it is just a feeling. Unlike the tennis ball, as human beings we have control over our lives and we are responsible for our own happiness and wellbeing. In the Bible, David went through difficult and trying situations and circumstances, but his secret was in knowing and acknowledging the fact that his life was in God’s hands. We also need to know that God will never throw us away like the tennis player throws away his ball. God gives us hope and strength when we are weak. All we have to do is to call on Him. He is a very present help in time of need. You can bounce back and face the storms of life with God on your side. If God is for us, who can be against us?
Bounce back, for the Lord your God is with you.
Grace and grace alone
